Blog Post #9

I explored a blog posted by Brenden from a previous class. In his post he described the use and importance of genres in research projects, as well as our every day life. Relating to his own uses in journal writing and tweeting, Brenden described how today's society has changed in the use of genres. From sending a letter to an individual, advancing to e-mailing, to now sending casual text messages all showing the shift of such advancements. Brenden's post helped teach me that we can be very flexible with our genres and relate it to more than just a way of better explaining our research project; which is very relevant to what is going on in the class now since we are finishing up our Project #2. Genres can be expressed through multiple styles such as satirical, sad, informative, and uplifting, which furthers stretches out their use in explaining an argument or getting your point across. Although Brenden does get his point across smoothly, he fails to recognize which chapter in the book he is referring to, making it a little more difficult for me to do additional research on the use of genres.
