Viral marketing on Wikipedia delivered a thorough definition of the term accompanied by the explanation of its' uses as well as the history, why it is used, methods, and examples. Before reading this Wikipedia entry, I was familiar with the concept of people promoting products through the use of the Internet, but was less familiar with how personal it can be and the exact term for it. Every day we see advertisements for some new great deal or product, it has constructed copious amounts of revenue for many companies by giving them the chance to reach out to more people. The process of virally marketing something is a lot more tedious than I would have assumed, including strategic ways for consumers to take a better liking to the product, remember it, and spread it amongst their friends and family. Viral marketing can be done by an individual or company as a better way to appeal to your intended audience. This can pertain to our three genres required for our new community as a way of capturing their attention. For example, virally marketing a new form of merchandise to a specific community, relating to my community it could be a LGBT Pride Shirt that would circulate campus.
