Prior to this podcast the only video-recorded story I listened to was the voice recordings my elementary teachers used to play for our class story time. Podcasts provide more than just a voice telling a story, they include sound effects, different perspectives, and allows me to leave the rest up to my imagination. Starting off with a description of each individual that will be participating in the simulation of Life on Mars, the speaker followed up with a voice recording from each individual to get a picture. Through satirical diction, the speaker emphasized the isolation the participants will be experiencing, comparing it to her own bad experiences with isolation and confinement. The simulation in progress was designed to be an exact replica of Life on Mars, including the lack of knowledge associated with the environment. Listening to a podcast can assist a writer in creating more descriptive text, since it is up to the reader to imagine the story, it is imperative to include certain aspects included in a podcast, such as sound effects and different perspectives. Lynn’s techniques throughout this podcast will definitely assist me in advancing my paper.
