Past Teen Vogue issues have focused on what you should wear, how you should act, and who you should look up to, brainwashing every 18-24-year-old and creating a mindset of self-loathing. Welteroth’s impactful modernization for change on the scope of Teen Vogue magazines has not only attracted readers of all ages due to a more political focus, but taught teenagers how to develop a sense of individuality. Welteroth’s drive was to include a political aspect while demanding inclusivity to embrace feminism and intersectionality, many sensitive topics that have too often been shied away from. The purpose was to make the magazines more than just diet tips and ways to decorate your room from Crate & Barrel, something that has programmed girls to love the magazine instead of loving themselves. Today’s world has significantly advanced in the message of self-love, a dispatch Welteroth has dedicated her life’s work to.
